You know everyone loves a good laugh at this super corny video... but c'mon this band was actually pretty decent. Not Jerry Band level stuff but solidly played tunes that aren't horrible.

The only other video of them on youtube.

Hey, when I saw them the band consisted of Billy Cobham on drums, Alphonso Johnson on bass, Brent on keys, Bob on cheese, and someone else (can't recall). Cobham and Johnson on drums and bass? Come on - doesn't get much better than that.

Dave Garland replaced Brent by the time of the show I posted... But Johnson and Cobham are there, and sound fantastic!

My memory of the show is standing at Alphonso's feet and him breaking strings during a very nasty "Satisfaction". And hippy chicks. Lots of lovely, southern hippy checks - and not southern france, mind you.

That's a fine memory to have, a fine one indeed.

Here's a great video of Johnson and Cobham doing their thing..

You'll have to search elsewhere for the southern hippy chicks... Sounds like niche someone has a site for!

Cobham and Johnson were also of course in Jazz is Dead with Jimmy Herring - Alfonso's bass take on Truckin' is an outstanding listening experience.
